Why does my brain constantly speak to me?

Community iconc/mentalhealth@lemmy.world by
framebyframe@lemmy.world

I made this account because I cannot find the answer. I dont know if anyone will see this or respond either. My brain constantly talks to me, or more so im talking to myself. Its not once in awhile, but every minute. Everyday, it has not changed it has gotten worse. I either think of random things or negative things. Everytime I try to think positive, it switches to panic in my brain. This constant talk not only makes my head hurt but I cannot control my emotions half of the time. I also feel like my body is out of place as if im not in it. My body feels like it needs to move around but when I do, I cant. I feel as if Im frozen and uncomfortable even laying down. Everything seems difficult, I feel out of place and different from everybody. I keep researching but I cannot find the answer. The more deeper I go into my thoughts, the more I struggle to sleep and focus. I get deep thoughts on why I am in this world, why I am human, Why I exist. My brain spinning makes me want to exist less because of how tiring it is to feel like this everyday. I play a ton of video games and guitar because those seem to be the only two activities that makes my brain shut up for a short period. This is a very long type but I hope someone out here can help or give advice on what I should do.

What happened to internet culture?

Community iconc/asklemmy@lemmy.ml by

I was going down memory lane, I graduated in 96. But Internet culture of the mid 2000s to mid 2015. Seemed like there was always some stand out video or event ranging from chocolate rain video, nyan cat, amazing horse, I like turtles, why does the Internet seem so stale lately? I just realized a lot of this fun stuff stopped around 2014 or became less prevalent the closer we get to events that started dividing us, like gamergate, Trump canidancy in 2015. God this last decade has just sucked and it just keeps getting worse. How did we go to so much hope and promise to where we are now? Even reddit sucks now

Hello people, I recently rented a vps server from OVH and I want to start hosting my own piefed instance and a couple other services. I am running debian 13 with docker, and I have nginx proxy manager almost set up. I want to set up subdomains so when I do social.my.domain it will go to my piefed instance, but how do I tell the machine to send piefed traffic to this subdomain and joplin traffic (for example) to another domain? Can I use nginx/docker natively for that or do I have to install another program. Thanks for the advice.

Maybe the most important aspect of this story is the duration of the war relative to the modest amount of territory Russia has been able to seize, despite 80 years of technological advancements since the end of WW2. The online troll armies and absurd triumphal chest beating is increasingly stretched thin to cover what a colossal and historic disaster this war has been for Russia.

As President Trump threatens Iran, Venezuela, Mexico, Greenland and more, renowned historian Alfred McCoy says the United States is “an empire in decline,” following a predictable pattern of militarism abroad and political instability at home as it loses power and influence on the world stage. “American politics become increasingly contorted and irrational,” says McCoy. “I think the thing to do is to realize that we are an empire in decline, … and it will continue for another decade or two, until American power finally slips away.”

In the past few months the MetaBrainz team has been fighting a battle against unscrupulous AI companies ignoring common courtesies (such as robots.txt) and scraping the Internet in order to build up their AI models. Rather than downloading our dataset in one complete download, they insist on loading all of MusicBrainz one page at a time. This of course would take hundreds of years to complete and is utterly pointless. In doing so, they are overloading our servers and preventing legitimate users from accessing our site.

There. That’s out of the way. I recently installed Linux on my main desktop computer and work laptop, overwriting the Windows partition completely. Essentially, I deleted the primary operating system from the two computers I use the most, day in and day out, instead trusting all of my personal and work computing needs to the Open Source community. This has been a growing trend, and I hopped on the bandwagon, but for good reasons. Some of those reasons might pertain to you and convince you to finally make the jump as well. Here’s my experience.

New tool lets anyone audit a country's methane claims (phys.org)

Community iconc/climate@slrpnk.net by
Greenbeard@slrpnk.net

For years, countries have told the United Nations how much methane they emit using a kind of bottom-up bookkeeping: Count the cows and oil barrels, estimate the volume of trash, and multiply by standard emission factors. Those ledgers can miss the mark, suggest measurements from aircraft and satellites. But the tools to translate that data into national emissions estimates have largely remained the domain of specialists. A team at Harvard is changing that. In a recent Nature Communications paper, the researchers describe Integrated Methane Inversion (IMI), an open-access system designed to let governments, researchers and civil society independently evaluate national methane claims against what satellites detect in the atmosphere, year after year.
