Hey all,
I’m upgrading to 2 gb fiber internet, and I’m looking to swap my router for an opnsense build. I’m looking to build a matx PC using the Intel x540 t2. I know the 2x10gbe connections need more processing power compared to the recommended specs on opnsenses site.
But I have no idea what cpu to get.
I’m looking at the i5-6500T since it’s low power and I already have a compatible mobo laying around. Is that too old for this application?
Full stack would be the fiber ONT 10gb port - > this opnsense build - > 8 port 2.5 gb switch with a 10gb uplink port.
Will probably have less than 20 devices connected at once, with only a couple of them capable of using the full internet speed.
